Gym preparations for Summer include incentives for bicyclists

As we prepare to roll into summer we say a goodbye for the season to our Marquette Climbing Club. This is MU’s fourth year at Turner Hall. The students range from beginners to seasoned veterans.  There were a total of 598 participants for the very successful Monday and Wednesday evening program this Spring. We also say adieu for the summer to the UWM climbing classes in the gym. Both these programs are exemplary partnerships in the Turners’ ongoing mission of being a teaching facility.

New for the Summer months is Milwaukee Turners’ inaugural participation in the popular citywide Bike Bingo and Bicycle Benefits programs. Both programs will incentivize gym users to ride their bikes to Turner Hall by providing discounts, coupons and opportunities for prizes each time a customer visits the gym by bicycle. As a participating partner in Bicycle Benefits and Bike Bingo, Milwaukee Turners aim to encourage active transportation (biking and walking) that help cut down on fossil fuel use and provide a healthy and more enjoyable alternative to automobiles when traveling to Turner Hall Gym. In addition to these programs, we have arranged with the city to add three new bike racks outside the front of Turner Hall for all visitors of the building to safely park their bikes. This will be a welcome addition, as the visitors have had only a single rack to choose from at Turner Hall until now. Further, the Milwaukee Turners will be offering even more exciting promotions for bicyclists, as we participate in Wisconsin Bike Week June 2 - 9. Stay tuned for details!

In other gym news, the Milwaukee Turners, in conjunction with UWM instructor Kim Kosmitis, will be teaching a lead/sport climbing class as well as planning on offering ice climbing classes again soon.

The Milwaukee Turners’ Gymnasium will continue to offer rock climbing Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 5pm till 10pm and on Saturdays and Sundays from 12pm till 5pm.

Yoga classes in the gym also continue to be offered Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:30pm
